STEAKHAUS
PRODUCTIONS is
a new digital media company. Our goal is to produce independent digital
features and shorts from conception through post-production. We are dedicated
to bringing the public films that both realize the artists vision and
are innovative in content an style. Steak House started Steakhaus Productions in 1997 with the purpose of joining diverse artists in collaborative projects. The company's first undertaking was www.steakhaus.com, a website showcasing the talents of several artists including Firehouse (Chuck Sperry and Ron Donovan) and The Illinore Show (Louanne Ponder and Ron Zisook). This website received rave reviews and proceeded to be awarded the prestigious Golden Web Award. While working on this website Steakhaus Productions and The Illinore Show produced their first short together, Lez B Friends/A Biker Bitch Hate Story. This video toured the Underground and Gay/Lesbian international festival circuits. It screened at Outfest (Los Angeles International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival), New York Underground Film Festival, Finland's Tampere Short Film Festival and Montreal's Image and Nation, to name a few. During the success of Lez B Friends/A Biker Bitch Hate Story, Steak discovered the wave of the future, digital video. This is a recently developed technological breakthrough that allows aspiring filmmakers to actualize their dreams for a fraction of the cost of shooting on film. Inspired by this, Steakhaus Productions refocused their vision to digital video and its ability to allow artist's creative control. Due to their previous artistic endeavors they offer an exceptional understanding of artists, beyond that they are detail-oriented, hard-working, organized and industry savvy. Diving in head first Steakhaus Productions shot their award winning debut feature, By Hook or By Crook (an irresistible buddy movie by Harriet Dodge and Silas Flipper) and three digital shorts (Fumbling Towards Rock, 1061 Knapsack and Ride the Hard Line.) in 2000. Projects in development include Slash-n-Burn (a horror film capitalizing on the recent roller derby revival, a joint venture with The Illinore Show), Uptown by Midnight (a teen comedy about being 14, punk and in love by Samara Halperin), Accidental Fanny Pack by Greg Arden, Powers by Tara Jepsen and Mark Ewert and Tubs (an experimental short, a joint venture with The Illinore Show).
**************************************************************************** STEAK HOUSE has over ten years experience in the film industry (Nickelodeon, Fox, MTV and ABC). On a break from Hollywood, she toured the United States and Canada with the band Ethyl Meatplow, as their tour manager and cross dressing go-go boy, landing in San Francisco. In 1993 she formed Retarded Whore Productions with Brian Murphy, Felicia House and Mark Damian. They produced some of the most popular and experimental clubs in the San Francisco scene (Hellbound, Gassoline and Jesus which received a SF Bay Guardian, Best of the Bay award in 1994). These clubs showcased several seminal acts such as the Ron Athey Co., the Geraldine Fibbers, Tim "The Torture King" Cridland, Crash Worship, Foreskin 500, and Vaginal Cream Davis. Steak is focusing on her new digital media company, Steakhaus Productions, after honing in her digital design skills at SFSU Multimedia Studies Program.Her first short, LEZ B FRIENDS/A BIKER BITCH HATE STORY (1998) screened internationally at Outfest, Frameline, NY Underground Film Festival, Finland’s Tampere Short Film Festival and many more. Frameline has an entire program for Steakhaus Productions Shorts, STRAIGHTSPLOITATION, at the 2002 festival and the ROXIE did the same in 2001. Steak graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in set design.
